Cabinets
Here are a few simple tips and tricks to keep your cabinets looking brand new!
Basic Cleaning: Wipe down your cabinets with a dampened, lint-free cotton cloth and wipe dry. To remove oil, grease, or daily spills, use a solution of mild soap and water, then dry them immediately with a soft, lint-free cotton cloth. Avoid using a dishcloth or sponges to clean your cabinet surfaces as they may contain harsh detergents that can harm the cabinet’s finish. (Do NOT use an ammonia-based cleaner, soaps with dye, abrasive cleaners, or self-polishing waxes.)
Spills: Wipe all spills immediately using a dry cloth with a blotting motion, rather than wiping the spill. Do not allow water and detergents to dry on the cabinet surface.
Avoid: Excessive Moisture: This is one of the worst enemies to any cabinet finish. Avoid draping wet towels over cabinet doors.
Excessive Heat: It can negatively impact the wood and finish.
Abrasive Cleaning: Never use a scouring pad, steel wool, or powdered cleaners as this may result in penetrating the surface, which can cause deterioration of the finish.
